Top trainer Paul Nicholls horses left a major mark on the Anglo Irish horse of the year award show, Paul himself won the top trainer of the year award, but the main talking point of the evening was both his super jumping machines Denman and Kauto star who collected major accolades.
Denman who has enjoyed a faultless season this campaign winning the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup, Lexus Chase and Aon Chase as well as beating Kauto Star in the Cheltenham Gold Cup collected the main prize of ?The Horse of the year? as well as the champion 3 year old chaser, Kauto Star who was the much fancied horse when beaten by Denman at Cheltenham won the Champion Two-And-A-Half-Mile Chaser award completing a brilliant treble for the trainer.
Remarkably another Paul Nicholls trained horse collected the highest rated horse of the year with Champion chase winner Master Minded who finished this season with a rating of 186, although this rating was applied after a 19 length victory over Voy Por Ustedes in the Champion chase but was later avenged by the same horse in the Melling chase at Aintree.
Next seasons Jumping season promises to be probably the most competitive yet with so many top horses now vying for the graded races and I literally cant wait.
