Score - Aston Villa 2 Derby County 0
First Half Run Down
Derby County came to Aston Villa in need of a win, as they are sitting down the bottom half of the table, but it was just not their day today and they now fall even deeper into the relegation zone. Derby came into this game without scoring an away goal this season and unfortunately for them the goal still remains elusive. Abonlahor kept Derby’s defense very busy in the first half with his sheer strength and pace, but Derby were quick on the counter attack and were first to make any valid effort on goal and they kept up the pressure for most of the first half, Villa also had a few good attempts on goal but they also came to no avail and the first half score line remained 0-0.
Second Half Run Down
Derby County started half time with a substitution and brought on Gary Teale and took of Claude Davis. After exerting pressure on Derby, Villa finally managed to open the scoring in the 57th minute of the game when defender Laursen struck a great goal into the back of the net, and only four minutes later Villa extended their lead to 2-0 when a mistake by McEverly gave Agbonlahor a free run at goal and although his shot was blocked, Reo Coker got the ball and managed to pick out Young who was at the far post who in turn kicked in a great volley past Bywater into the net. Derby never recovered from this and at full time the score remained 2-0 to Villa.
