Both players looked solid right from the onset as they teed off together in slightly breezy conditions.

It was Goggin though who made the early pace, strengthening his grip on the lead while Ogilvy moved through the early stages of the round with little discomfort.

While others fell by the wayside, Australian veteran golfer Peter Senior played himself right in contention and was unlucky not to have a share of the lead following a few heart stopping putts that fell millimeters short.

Rod Pampling also looked dangerous early only to have several bogies amid flashes of brilliance on the back nine all but end his chances.

Ogilvy drew level with Goggin with just four holes to play before a normally conservative Goggin hit a 3 wood from the fairway 50 yards into a water hazard.

His recovery was more than decent but Ogilvy had already set up birdie to take a two-stroke lead with just three to play.

Goggin was not ready to lay down and preceded to pinch one back on the next hole only to see Ogilvy kick clear again on the 17th and stay there for his first ever home win.
