West Brom and Stoke have booked their places in the Premier League next season by finishing in the top two, but four other teams now face the lottery of the play-offs. But for one promotion and a pot of gold awaits them.

Play-offs are always unpredictable and with the intensity of the battle (that a lot of people have enjoyed unless you supported one of the teams involved) at the top of the Championship this season makes it doubly interesting. The ultimate promotion prize is there for any of the four teams to take.

Frequently the teams that perform the best in the playoffs are those who don’t feel the disappointment of missing out on automatic promotion and have enjoyed a late season rise in form to snatch a place in the top six.

Hull city v Watford

In the seasons meetings between the two Watford beat Hull 1-0 back in October, but after Hull’s 3-0 victory in the return game at the KC Stadium a few weeks ago and with the advantage of having the second leg at home and form on their side, Hull will be confident of progressing to Wembley.

Bristol city v Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace go in to this fixture on the back of some really good recent form and look good at the minute but on the other hand Bristol City have endured a torrid time over the last few weeks, and may well feel that their opportunity has already been and gone.

Palaces havent lost to City yet this season, and Warnock has never lost a play-off semi-final, and there is little to suggest that either of those records will be broken.

So it is a Hull City v Palace for me at Wembley.
