England?s build up to their Rugby Union tour of New Zealand that is coming up over the summer just seems to get worse and worse for England?s travelling fans with the news that fly half Dan Cipriani suffered a terrible injury in Wasp?s league playoff game last weekend. The Wasp fly half suffered a Fractured and dislocated ankle in a freak injury that is expected to keep him out for at least six months.
With Jonny Wilkinson already out of the tour with a shoulder injury England?s ?forgotten? man Dan Hipkiss who has been showing great form recently in the centre for club side Leicester helping them to the playoff final ironically against Cipriani?s Wasps has been called up as a late replacement.
England?s new manager Martin Johnson has not wasted any time in splitting up predecessor Brian Ashton?s team with both Iain Balshaw and Lesley Vainikolo being omitted from his 30 man party to travel to New Zealand though both ironically have been selected by the Barbarian team to face England at Twickenham on June 1st.
Although not many people expect England to get anything out of the tour in New Zealand, former World Cup winning captain and new manager Martin Johnson will no doubt make England a lot tougher and harder to beat than Brian Ashton did in my own personal view.
