One topic that has been all over the papers in the last few days is the news that Olympic gold medal Marathon favourite Paula Radcliffe has suffered a stress fracture to her leg, whilst obviously in pain during training Paula must have thought it was necessary to go to the hospital to get it checked out but even she couldn’t have expected to find that she has been diagnosed with a low-grade injury to her left femur following an MRI scan last Wednesday.
Paula herself must be devastated to hear such bad news especially when you consider that she has had two previous scans for the injury in which she was told there was nothing ‘seriously’ wrong and now with Beijing just around the corner the big question everybody will be asking is will she have time to get up to peak fitness for the Olympics after the injury subsides?, with many experts suggesting she does not have any chance at all to get back to her fighting best which is what surely is needed to win gold in such a competitive field this year in the marathon in Beijing China.
Another of Britain’s gold medal hopefuls is Phillips Idowu who seems to coming into tip top form just in time for his crack at gold; Phillips won gold in the triple jump at the indoor world championships in Valencia recently with a jump of 17m 75cm which is the 4th highest indoor jump ever and is now showing the sort of promise that he was tipped for earlier in his career.
