The top players from around the globe are currently playing in low key tournaments mainly on clay to help them in their preparation for the French Open which begins at Roland Garros on May 25th.

Current mens World number 1 Roger Federer struggled to overcome Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain but managed to beat him by two sets to one but at times in the match was pushed very hard by the relatively unknown Spanish player proving once again that he really does struggle on clay, Meanwhile the World?s number 2 and last years inner and many peoples favourite to win again this year Rafael Nadal breezed through his second round match winning two sets to nil and only dropping 3 games in the process.

So the third round of the Monte Carlo has all the top seeds through with only 3 casualties so far with 15th seeded Croatian Ivo Karlovic, 8th seeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny, and the 11th seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina being the only players to be knocked out so far.

So with the grand slam of France only just around the corner then onto Wimbledon and the grass season this year of tennis is proving to be as fascinating as any other year I can remember.

So if I had to stick my neck out and make a choice I would go for Rafael Nadal to win at Roland Garros and Roger Federer to once again win at Wimbledon.
