Goalkeeper,
Im not going to pick a goalkeeper from the big clubs, James of Portsmouth has had an outstanding season and for his age has been consistently brilliant all season.
Defenders,
Left-back goes to Patrice Evra, though Gael Clichy has also been impressive for Arsenal this season, while in the centre it is impossible to ignore the form of Nemanja Vidic who has been immense for Manchester United all season, partnered by Terry and right back has to go to Ryan Taylor of Blackburn who again has not put a foot wrong all season.
Midfielders,
Such is the abundance of defensive midfield talent playing in the Premier League at the moment it would be silly not to select a formation that accommodated at least one of them. Michael Essien has stood out for Chelsea, as has Mathieu Flamini for Arsenal, but it is Essien for me alongside Fabregas who has been fantastic all year,
On the flanks you cannot look any further than Ronaldo down the right, and despite his age it is Giggs down the left.
Forwards,
Although Emmanuel Adebayor has been banging the goals in for Arsenal, but there has only been one striker’s name on everyone’s lips this season and that is Fernando Torres. There must be a few managers kicking themselves after looking at him and deciding that his goalscoring record wasn’t quite good enough.
So my team of the year in full is.
James(Portsmouth), Taylor(Blackburn), Evra(Man Utd),Terry(Chelsea), Vidic(ManUtd), Essien(Chelsea), Fabregas(Arsenal), Ronaldo(Man Utd), Giggs(Man Utd), Adebayor(Arsenal), Torres(Liverpool).
