The Decathlon is the iron man event of the mens Olympics comprising of 10 events on both the track and the field, the winner being the athlete that can gather the most points over the two days of competing.
The ten events consist of sprinting, throwing and jumping and athletes need to train hard at all the events making this the hardest event at the Olympics in my eyes, even harder than the marathon.
On the first day of competition the athletes must overcome the 100-metre run, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400 metres leaving himself enough energy to overcome the 110-metre hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500 metres on day 2, and for any human being to overcome all those events in such a short space of time especially that last event of the 1500 metres and be the winner is the reason why many people worldwide regard the individual as the "World’s Greatest Athlete".
The womens event called the Heptathlon consists of only seven events, with four on the first day and three on the second.
Day 1, 100-metres hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 metre sprint.
Day 2, Long jump, Javelin, and finishes with the 800 m.
But just as gruelling for a women as the men?s event is.
