www.ladbroke.com – South Africa has come under fire from one of it’s own following their arrogance in the build up to the Perth test next week.
Former test spinner Pat Symcox has labeled the Proteas ‘pathetic’ in their swaggering confidence following a 2-0 test victory of World Test Cricket minnows, Bangladesh.
It is well know that the South Africans have the figure on paper this year, having five of the top ten batting averages and boasting the fastest bowler in the world.
However the Proteas arrogance has clearly angered Symcox who lashed out at his former team urging them to concentrate on the cricket and not enter into the media hype that inevitably comes with any tour of Australia.
The Proteas have recently claimed they are in the best position they have ever been in to win a tour of Australia but beating Bangladesh at home is hardly the best yardstick to measure current form.
Australia thrashed the Black Caps (ranked just above Bangladesh) in their two test series on home soil after a reasonably poor tour of India yet have hardly uttered a word about it in the aftermath.
This should be taken as an ominous sign by the South Africans but who have apparently failed to heed the warning.
Australia’s batsmen showed scintillating form with the bat while Brett Lee has seen a welcome return to form taking career best figure in the second test against New Zealand.
At the end of the day South Africa can talk and swagger all they want because they, and all Australians know, that beating Australia on home soil is the most difficult task in World Cricket.
